Gesture & etiquette
Hold out the Suica card towards the staff or payment terminal. A slight apologetic smile if it's not working.
Always carry some cash, especially in smaller or rural areas, as IC cards and credit cards are not universally accepted. Do not get frustrated with the staff if your preferred payment method is not accepted.
