Good morning. Likewise.
Gesture & etiquette
Bow at roughly 15 degrees to colleagues, 30 degrees to supervisors; make eye contact and smile as you say it; greet each person individually if the team is small rather than a single group greeting — personal greetings feel more genuine.
In Japanese workplaces, morning greetings are not optional pleasantries — they are social obligations. Junior members are expected to greet seniors first. Adding 'よろしくお願いします' to a simple 'good morning' signals team spirit and daily recommitment to collaboration. Failing to greet can be misread as bad mood or disrespect.
