Great work, everyone! This is something we all achieved together.
Gesture & etiquette
Deliver with a warm, heartfelt bow at 20-30 degrees. If there are multiple team members, make eye contact with different people as you speak to acknowledge each individually. This is an appropriate moment to propose a brief team celebration: 'Kanpai wa dou deshou ka?' (How about a toast/small celebration?). Smile genuinely — this is a moment of shared pride.
Closing a completed project by attributing success to the whole team ('minasan no gojinryoku no okage de' — thanks to everyone's dedicated efforts) is a fundamental Japanese group-harmony practice. Individual attribution of success is considered socially inappropriate — the 'we' framing motivates the group to continue performing. 'Buji' (safely/without incident) signals that the journey as well as the outcome is valued.
