Gesture & etiquette
Bring a small mirror so they can see themselves and feel involved. Offer choices ('What color hairpin?'). Comb gently from the ends upward, not from the roots. If they refuse a particular grooming, drop it immediately—autonomy first.
Helping a senior look their best before family visits is dignity-preserving care. Frame it as preparation for the joyful event ('your family is coming!'), not as a problem to fix. 「お顔」「お髪」 with お prefix elevates these mundane words. 「整える」 means 'tidy/arrange'—neutral and respectful, not 'fix/clean'.
