Yes, please proceed. What is the motion?
Gesture & etiquette
Stand to address the chair. Bow about 15 degrees on 「存じます」. State motion in 1-2 sentences. Sit only after the chair acknowledges. If seconded, the discussion follows; if not, the motion lapses.
Formal motion in board or association meetings. Used in Robert's-Rules-style procedural settings (shareholder meetings, association assemblies, formal boards). 「動議」 (dougi) is the technical term for a procedural motion. Chair then opens it for discussion. State motion clearly, briefly, and request a second: 「ご賛同いただける方はいらっしゃいますでしょうか」.
