Hold up the seiriken for the driver to see, then point towards the fare box area questioningly.
Do not try to pay without a seiriken (numbered ticket) if it's a 'seiriken' system bus. Ensure you have the exact change or use an IC card, as drivers cannot always make change for large bills.
