申し訳ございません。古本の買取には日本国内の現住所が確認できる身分証明書が必要です。パスポートだけでは受付できません。

We apologize. For buying used books, we require ID that confirms a current address within Japan. A passport alone is not sufficient.
Gesture & etiquette
Present the books, then show the passport as ID while speaking.
Do not argue or insist if they say no, as this is a common policy for legal reasons (to prevent theft, etc.).
