Gesture & etiquette
Stand upright, bow at 30 degrees, and make eye contact with the group before and after the bow. Speak loudly enough for all to hear. If giving meishi (business cards), exchange them individually starting with the most senior person.
The first-day self-introduction (jikoshoukai) is expected to be brief, humble, and clearly audible. State your name, your previous role or origin (if relevant), and end with 'yoroshiku onegai shimasu' while bowing. In many companies, you also send a formal email introducing yourself to all relevant colleagues on the same day.
