I'm so glad you came! Getting a good spot was quite a challenge.
Gesture & etiquette
Arrive with something to contribute — drinks, snacks, or a small treat. Smile and admire the blossoms together before settling in. Participating actively in the group (pouring drinks for others, joining conversation) rather than sitting passively is greatly appreciated.
花見 (hanami) is one of Japan's most beloved spring traditions. It is a social occasion — bring food and drinks to share, and help with setup and cleanup rather than just showing up. Sitting on a blue tarp (ブルーシート) under the trees is standard; shoes come off when sitting on a tarp.
