Gesture & etiquette
Stand if presenting formally, or seated upright in 1-on-1. Speak with calm confidence — strong results don't need exaggerated emphasis. Gesture toward the materials when referencing. Pause after the headline number for the superior to absorb it before continuing.
Monthly performance reports lead with the headline number and target status, then point to supporting materials. Use specific percentages and concrete metrics — vague 'good progress' lacks credibility. 'Otemoto no shiryou' (the materials in front of you) is the polite reference to handouts. If figures missed target, lead with that honestly: 'oojinin desu ga, ◯◯ ga oikketsu shite orimashita' (it's regrettable, but we fell short).
