Gesture & etiquette
Musubi-dachi stance (heels together, feet at 45°), hands as light fists at the seams of your gi pants. Bow from the hip (about 30°), not the neck. Hold the bow for one full second. Eyes briefly meet the senior's at the end — never bow with eyes shut in martial arts.
押忍 (Osu) is karate/Kyokushin-specific, expressing respect, perseverance, and acknowledgement. Spelled 押 (push) + 忍 (endure). Used at start/end of training, entering/leaving the dojo, and when receiving instruction. Aikido uses お願いします; judo uses silent 礼 bow. Always confirm the specific dojo's etiquette on day one.
