Stand at meeting room entrance to greet journalist. Bow 30 degrees on 「ありがとうございます」. Offer seat with palm open: 「どうぞこちらへ」. Exchange business cards with both hands—theirs received with two hands, placed visible on table during interview.
Press interview opener. 「遠路はるばる」 (over the long road) thanks journalist for traveling. Even if they came from same city, this idiomatic phrase signals warmth and respect. Always start with gratitude, then proceed to introductions. Have business cards ready, water/tea served.
