No, please don't put it in the hot water. Please put it on your head or on the edge of the tub.
Gesture & etiquette
Point to the towel, then gesture towards the bath. Nod politely to understand the instruction.
Do not put large bath towels into the bath water. This rule is for hygiene. The small 'tenugui' towel should not be immersed either.
