Romaji: Sumimasen, kono otōshi wa hissu desu ka? Moshi kanō deshitara, jitai sasete itadakitai no desu ga. / Reply Romaji: Mōshiwake gozaimasen, tōten de wa otōshi wa minasama ni odashi shite orimasu. Gorikai itadakemasu to saiwaidesu.

In most izakayas, otoshi is mandatory. Politely asking is fine, but be prepared for it to be non-negotiable. Do not argue if it's mandatory.
