Excuse me, are people with tattoos not allowed in this onsen?
Romaji: Sumimasen, kono onsen wa tatū ga aru hito wa hairemasen ka? / Reply Romaji: Chiisana tatū deshitara, shīru de kakushite itadakereba go nyūyoku itadakemasu. Ōkina mono wa go enryo itadaite orimasu.

小さなタトゥーでしたら、シールで隠していただければご入浴いただけます。大きなものはご遠慮いただいております。
ちいさなタトゥーでしたら、シールでかくしていただければごにゅうよくいただけます。おおきなものはごえんりょいただいております。
If it's a small tattoo, you can enter if you cover it with a sticker. Large tattoos are respectfully declined.
Gesture & etiquette
Point to your arm/area where a tattoo might be, or make a small covering gesture.
Do not argue with staff if denied entry. Rules vary greatly between onsen.
