Gesture & etiquette
Announce the step when you are 1-2 metres away, not at the last second. If pushing a wheelchair, slow down, grip the handles firmly, and tilt the front wheels slightly before mounting the step.
Always warn seniors about upcoming steps or terrain changes before they happen. Unexpected jolts cause fear and erode trust; forewarning keeps the senior mentally in control even if not physically.
