Casual and inviting tone — a warm smile signals genuine welcome rather than a formal obligation. If the person is new or foreign, add: 「みんなフレンドリーですよ」(Everyone is friendly) to ease any anxiety about joining.
「飲み会」(nomikai — company drinking party) is an important part of Japanese workplace culture — relationships are built outside the office. Declining too often may mark you as antisocial, though this norm is shifting. A first-time decline should be gracious: 「今日は先約がありまして…またぜひ参加させてください。」
