今日は足のお手入れをしましょう。温かいお湯に少し浸からせてから、きれいにしますね。

きょうはあしのおていれをしましょう。あたたかいおゆにすこしひたからせてから、きれいにしますね。

Today let's take care of your feet. I'll have you soak them in warm water for a bit first, then tidy them up.

ああ、気持ちよさそうね。お願いします。

Oh, that sounds nice. Please go ahead.

Gesture & etiquette

Test the water temperature with your wrist before placing their feet in — never put their feet into water of unknown temperature. Gently guide their feet in while narrating: 'Yukkuri iremasu yo' (I'll put them in slowly). Maintain light conversation or hum softly during the soak. Dry each foot gently and thoroughly, especially between the toes.

Foot care is one of the most soothing and welcome care routines for many seniors. The warm water soak before cleaning is both practically beneficial (softens the skin) and emotionally comforting. Explain the process in advance so there are no surprises. This is an excellent time for gentle conversation — the relaxed foot soak often opens warm, reflective talking.
