Extend your arm at a natural and reachable height for the senior to hold. Walk exactly at their pace — even if very slow. Never pull or push; your role is to support, not to guide their speed.
Assistance should always be offered as a question, never assumed. Adding 「急がなくて大丈夫」(there is no need to hurry) actively reduces performance anxiety and affirms the senior's right to set their own pace.
