Gesture & etiquette
Approach from the IV side, position yourself so the patient can see you clearly. Read aloud the patient's name and the medication name together (double-check safety + reassurance). Work efficiently—the longer the arm stays still, the more strain. Cover the line with a small towel afterward.
IV drip change. The instruction 「動かさないでください」 (please don't move) is softened by 「~ね」 sentence-ending particle for warmth, and by explaining the reason first ('I'm changing your medication, so...'). Always announce before touching the IV line. Check name bracelet against medication label aloud—this both ensures safety and signals care.
