Stand at their side. Support elbow with one hand, hold sleeve opening with other. Guide arm through smoothly—do not pull on shoulder joint. Talk through each step calmly. Cover with towel/sheet between layers for modesty.
Dressing assistance. Announce sequence ('first the sleeve...') so they can anticipate movement. Rule of thumb: dress the affected/weaker side first, undress the strong side first. Always preserve modesty—keep a towel over the lap/chest area during the swap. Warm clothes briefly if cold weather.
