It seems this ticket machine doesn't accept the new banknotes. Could I exchange them for old banknotes?

Gesture & etiquette
Hold up the new banknote slightly so the staff can see which bill you have.
Do not repeatedly try to force the new bill into the slot, as it may jam the machine.
