Gesture & etiquette

Extend both hands to receive the card, bow at 15-20 degrees. Hold the card by the edges and read it carefully for a few seconds. During a meeting, arrange received cards on the table in front of you in the order of seating rank.

The required phrase when receiving a business card (meishi). Receive with both hands and bow. Study the card briefly and respectfully before setting it on the table or placing it in a card holder — never stuff it in a pocket, write on it, or bend it. This signals respect for the person.
