Gesture & etiquette
Crouch or sit beside the senior, not in front of them, to create a team-facing-the-doctor stance rather than senior facing both caregiver and doctor. If they struggle to articulate, use a simple pain scale: '1から10でどのくらい?' (How much on a scale of 1 to 10?).
Helping a senior communicate their symptoms to a doctor is a key care skill. Prompt them with specific open questions rather than filling in the answers yourself — maintaining the senior's voice in medical consultations preserves their autonomy. If they struggle, gently relay: 'Seems to be here and moderate intensity.'
