Gesture & etiquette
Stand at a respectful distance from the medical professional; speak clearly without rushing; have the patient's name and room number ready; step aside promptly to let the nurse or doctor approach the patient.
Use indirect speech (〜とおっしゃっています) to accurately relay the patient's own words to medical staff rather than paraphrasing or interpreting. This reduces the risk of miscommunication. Providing exact symptom descriptions with timing (いつから, since when) is also very helpful.
