Gesture & etiquette
Both hands open, relaxed — a gentle 'forget about it' wave paired with a warm, genuine smile; your tone should feel like a warm embrace — light, unconditional, and utterly sincere.
お互い様' (for each other / mutual) dissolves the debt-and-favor hierarchy — it says 'we all face these situations, so there's no need to feel bad.' Used when someone over-apologizes or feels they owe you. This phrase has no clean Western equivalent and is one of Japan's most uniquely harmonious expressions of social solidarity.
