Gesture & etiquette
Say this while making eye contact, ideally the evening before and again the morning of the appointment. Write the time and destination on a piece of paper and place it where they can see it — a whiteboard or sticky note reinforces verbal information. Show warmth in your voice to frame it as a routine, manageable event.
When informing seniors about upcoming appointments, give advance notice to allow mental preparation — sudden announcements can cause anxiety. Use simple, specific information (day, time, destination) and the reassuring 'issho ni' (together) to communicate that they will not go alone.
