Gesture & etiquette
Stand upright and bow at 20-30 degrees as you deliver the closing. Hold the bow for 2-3 seconds. After rising, maintain a composed, open posture and scan the room for raised hands or questions. Distribute business cards and proposal handouts at this moment if you have not already done so.
Closing a presentation with an active invitation for questions ('zehi okikase kudasai' — please do tell us) signals that you welcome feedback rather than fearing it. In Japan, clients rarely raise concerns spontaneously; this open invitation is necessary to surface any issues. Follow the close with a formal bow and a moment of silence to allow questions to emerge naturally.
