Show the testing instrument (blood pressure cuff, thermometer, etc.) before applying it. Maintain calm, steady movements — sudden or quick movements create anxiety even when the test itself is painless.
This three-part reassurance structure (what it is → how long → whether it hurts) addresses the three most common fears before a medical procedure. Delivering all three proactively prevents anxiety better than answering questions after fear has already set in.
