Gesture & etiquette

Wave or bow gently as the guest leaves. In Japan, hosts often walk guests to the door, down to the elevator, or even to the street — the further the send-off, the deeper the expression of hospitality.

「お気をつけて」(please take care) is one of the most versatile Japanese farewell phrases — used when seeing off guests, friends, or colleagues at any time of day or season. Adding 「またいつでも」(anytime at all) makes the invitation feel open and warm rather than formal.
