Gesture & etiquette
Stand to present, never seated. Hold card with both hands at chest height, name facing recipient. Slight bow (30 degrees) while presenting. Eye contact briefly before and after the exchange. Never hand the card with one hand or across an object (table, desk).
When presenting your business card, hold it with both hands by the corners, with your name facing the recipient (right-side up to them). 'Moushi okuremashita' (sorry for the delayed introduction) is a polite acknowledgment if any conversation happened before the formal exchange. Lower your card slightly if the recipient is more senior, signaling humility. Always present your card before they present theirs in a meeting you've initiated.
