Show the IV equipment briefly so it's not a surprise. Support the arm with a soft cushion or rolled towel. Insert with steady hands, calm breathing. After insertion, smile and confirm 'daijoubu desu ka?' (are you alright?). Position call bell within easy reach.
IV setup requires warning about both the initial needle prick and the need for stillness. 'Shibaraku jitto' (stay still for a while) frames the request without being commanding. After insertion, check the site visually every 15-30 minutes for swelling or discomfort. If the senior expresses pain or unusual sensation, stop immediately and reassess — never dismiss their feedback.
