Walk to the calendar with the senior watching if possible. Point with open hand (not finger) to today's date. Read aloud each medication and dose. If a dose was missed, ask gently — don't lecture.
Many Japanese seniors use お薬カレンダー (medication calendars) — weekly pillbox grids hung on the wall. Check morning/noon/evening doses match the prescription. Never skip the confirmation step even on familiar regimens — prescriptions change. The proactive 'ておきますね' frames the check as something you handle so they don't worry.
