Gesture & etiquette
Take the old card back if politely offered, slip into card holder (never trash in front of them). Present new card with both hands at chest level, slight bow. Wait for them to accept and look at it before continuing conversation.
When you've handed over an outdated business card (old title, old department). Apologize first, then offer the updated card with both hands, characters facing the recipient. Even though the error is minor, Japanese business culture treats meishi (business cards) with reverence—they represent your professional identity.
