It depends on the size, but there may be space on the overhead rack or in the connecting section of the car.
Gesture & etiquette
Point to the suitcase, then make a sweeping motion upwards (for overhead) and a forward motion (for connection area).
Do not block aisles or exit ways with luggage. Try to avoid rush hours when traveling with large luggage.
