Gesture & etiquette
Crouch beside the senior immediately. Do a visual check from head to toe without touching. Call loudly for a colleague while maintaining eye contact with the senior. Keep your expression calm — fear on your face will amplify theirs.
After a fall, do not move the senior until injury is assessed. The instruction 'don't move' protects against worsening a potential fracture or spinal injury. Speak calmly — the senior's physical state and emotional state are both fragile. Call for help while keeping one hand near (not on) the senior.
