Gesture & etiquette
Email or chat message. Send same day as return. Subject line: '【出張帰社報告】◯◯出張'. Keep this initial message brief — full report comes later. Add 1-2 sentence summary of outcome if positive ('proposal received favorably,' etc.).
Business trip return notification has two parts: an immediate brief email upon arrival ('I'm back safely') and a detailed written report within 1-2 business days. 'Buji ni' (safely) is more than ceremonial — it reassures the manager who tracked your travel. Splitting into 'immediate ack + detailed report later' shows thoughtfulness about their time.
