Crouch down to eye level immediately; place a gentle hand on their shoulder if they are not injured there; do not attempt to lift or reposition them — call facility staff or emergency services first.

Keep your voice calm but clear — panicked shouting can increase the senior's distress. Do not move them unless there is immediate danger (fire, traffic). Stay beside them, maintain eye contact, and give reassurance until help arrives.
