Gesture & etiquette
Move to the person without delay. Crouch down to their level and keep your voice calm — do not show panic even if alarmed inside. Assess visually before touching: 「どこが痛いですか?」(Where does it hurt?) Make eye contact to assess consciousness. Follow your facility's fall protocol immediately.
In a fall emergency: (1) reach the person immediately, (2) instruct them not to move until assessed, (3) visually check for injury before attempting to help them up, (4) call for additional support or emergency services as needed. Helping a senior to their feet too quickly can worsen injuries.
